IV Infusion - Peripheral IV Removal

Removed old dressing over PIV line, pulled out old PIV without difficulty. Catheter intact with no observable break or tear. Site covered with 2x2 gauze and secured with tape. Instructed patient to keep dressing intact for at least 24 hours before removing it. Also instructed patient to reinforce site with another dressing and apply pressure for at least 15 minutes in case PIV site starts bleeding and saturates through the dressing. Left patient extra dressing and tape. Patient also instructed to call SN in case bleeding does not stop.
