Cathflo Procedure - Complete Blockage


Prepared necessary items to start cathflo declogging procedure. Withdrew 2.2ml of sterile water and added to cathlflo activase, directing stream into powder. Gently swirled vial until powder was completely dissolved. Aspirated activase into an empty 10 cc syringe. Prepared line for the cathflo by removing the extension. Using an empty syringe, aspirated line up to 8-10 ml of air, clamped line using hemostats, removed empty syringe while holding on the aspirated air. Attached the syringe with activase in it, then released hemostat. Activase went in to the line on its own with negative pressure. After dwelling time of 30 min, aspirated 5 ml of activase and blood from line, then flushed with 10 ml of NS. Line was able to be flushed easily without any resistance this time.
