Taught and instructed patient/caregiver on how to irrigate feeding tube with water. Instructed patient/caregiver to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Draw up the amount of water recommended by your nurse or dietician into the catheter tip syringe. Insert the syringe into the end of your feeding tube or button adapter. Open the plug at the end of your feeding tube. If you have a button, insert the adapter into it. Inject the water into your feeding tube to flush it. Reclamp your feeding tube. Disconnect the syringe.
