PICC Line Removal
Current PICC dressing observed to be clean, dry and intact. Removed old PICC line dressing without difficulty. Instructed patient to take a deep breath and hold during inhalation. While patient is doing a modified Valsalva maneuver, PICC line was gently pulled in one motion without any difficulty or resistance. Applied pressure dressing on the site. Patient then was instructed to go ahead and breathe normally. PICC line inspected, especially tip and observed to be intact. Instructed patient not to lift anything heavier than 5 lbs and to keep the dressing clean, dry and intact for at least 24 hours. Also instructed patient to observe dressing and site for any signs/symptoms of infections such as purulent drainage, swelling, redness and pain at site and to call SN if any are observed. Patient tolerated procedure well without complications.
